　　The land on earth is a limited resource. As a result, there is often fierce debate between those who want to develop land for residential and industrial use and those who want to leave it in its natural state. In my opinion, there is a greater need to preserve some of the land in my country in its natural condition than to develop it.

　　One reason for my position is that we have already developed a great deal of the land in my country. Much of the remaining land is mountainous and unsuitable for development due to its instability. Furthermore, deforestation of the forests would damage the environment, causing landslides and other hazard. Another reason is that the largely urban population needs a natural retreat. Without such areas the people would lose contact with nature and perhaps their concern for the environment.

　　For the above reasons, I believe that my country should set aside more of the remaining undeveloped land as nature preserves. In this way we will be able to conserve our natural resources, protect the environment and ensure that future generations have the ability to experience nature.

　　Without animal testing, some patients would suffer or even die from their disease. However, despite these benefits, I believe that animals should not be used for testing medical techniques and drugs.

　　Not all the experiments are necessary and reliable. Nowadays animals are used in too many experiments to cure all kinds of diseases. Some diseases are not common ones and will not lead to people’s death. In addition, animals and humans are two kinds of quite different creatures. They have different physical process. The treatment and drugs which are effective to animals sometimes are useless and even have negative effects on humans. That is to say, information from animals does not apply to humans. Furthermore, with the development of technology, computer simulation can achieve similar results.

　　All in all, such kind of brutality should be halted. We should create a pain-free life for all animals.
